Building Boost Helps Boost QLD Building Approvals

Published on 12/02/2012

Queensland’s Building Boost may have been slow to get off the ground, but the latest figures from ABS Building Approvals show that the Building Boost has been doing its job of boosting the local construction industry.

While most of the country has seen a slow down in the building industry of late, with approvals for private sector houses falling, the recent data shows that approved dwellings in Queensland rose by 1.4% in December and the number of private sector houses rose by 3.1%.

December is the fourth consecutive month that the Queensland building industry has seen a growth in approvals and now that the Building Boost has been extended from finishing in January to April, it’s hoped that the approvals will continue to go up.

The Queensland Building Boost offers $10,000 to buyers building new homes worth up to $600,000, which is a significant contribution towards a new home.

The Building Boost isn’t the only reason to get into the property market right now though – property prices are low, interest rates are low and the first home buyers grant is available on top of the Building Boost for those who are buying their first home. So if you are looking to buy a home right now, then current incentives can help provide a great opportunity to get into the property market at a very affordable price.

The Queensland Building Boost is currently available until April 30, 2012 and further information about the boost can be found at boost.treasury.qld.gov.au.
